AdventureWorks — Outdoor Adventures with a Purpose

The TeamWorks Adventure Academy at Tussey Mountain

AdventureWorks, a division of TeamWorks, Inc. brings outdoor adventure and learning together. All TeamWorks, Inc. programs strive to provide meaningful learning experiences for participants of ages ranging from 14 to Adult. AdventureWorks programs take place in natural settings where the participants’ challenges are in conjunction with real life experiences.

AdventureWorks programs are designed to be educational programs, incorporating nature studies, natural history lessons, outdoor/wilderness skill instruction, and team development. Instruction in team development is an integral part of every AdventureWorks program, as we strive to promote the concept of effective teams throughout each program.

The AdventureWorks instructional curriculum has three basic programs from which to choose. TeamWorks, Inc. staff will plan the challenge level of the curriculum accordingly, which will be based on the goals and expectations of the planned program. A preprogram meeting will be scheduled at the TeamWorks Base Camp at the Tussey Mountain Ski Area prior to all overnight programs.

TeamWorks, Inc. will provide all group gear required for all AdventureWorks programs (tents, food, water, beverages etc.); a specific list will be provided. Participants will be required to bring all personal clothing (season appropriate, properly packed in backpacks), and other personal items. TeamWorks, Inc. will provide a list of appropriate items and quantities, with general packing guidelines.

AdventureWorks Curriculum

The AdventureWorks curriculum strives to provide opportunities for the transfer of learning in natural settings to learning in real-life situations. Instruction takes place in a variety of natural settings, with the challenge level as low-key as a day hike through a local area of interest to a more challenging 5 day/night program in the backcountry. The key to the unique nature of AdventureWorks programs is found in the challenges that can be realized by the participants; challenges realized by the valuable lessons that can be learned through a groups’ shared adventures.

Topics of instruction for AdventureWorks programs will be course specific. The prevalent themes will include:
